Welcome to my personal space,
Someday, someone in the press will take an interest.
Someday, you will want to hear my story.
I'll be here.
I've been here through a workplace injury they said never happened.
Through a lawyer who told me I had nothing.
Through deadlines that expired while I trusted the wrong person.
Through teaching myself federal civil procedure from a cell phone.
Through a federal lawsuit I built with my own hands.
I'm still here. By myself. No lawyer.
I'm not chasing headlines. I'm building a record.
When the day comes that you want to know what a billion dollar company did to one veteran over a mat they had 50 feet away — I'll have the documents, the timeline, the evidence, and the patience.
The pattern of how they treat veterans. Refusing to pay a Coast Guard reservist what the law requires.
I've been waiting this long.
I can wait a little longer.
The company calls itself Your Happy Place.
From a manager who smiled at me when I reported my injury.
Who reclassified my injury as non work related to protect a company from an OSHA report. To advance his own career by demonstrating his ability to put an injury claim in the trash.
A manager who continued to watch me limp around and suffer.
A manager who continued to put me in the one spot that didn't have the safety equipment that I needed. The safety equipment that their own safety videos say they were required to provide.
The one position my manager and lead protected me from by never putting me there.
A manager who demanded employees be on the floor the moment pay starts. Meaning we had to be dressed out and ready before the start of pay. How easy it is to lose your job over points — but this manager still has his. Still having his job says Hershey supports this kind of management style.
It's just a matter of time before people of the press are ready to ask these questions. Maybe you won't be ready till you hear a jury say what they got to say. But that day will come.
When you're ready, I'll be here.
